Grief and Loss

Grief and loss are common experiences for older adults as they navigate significant life changes and transitions. Losing a spouse, family members, close friends, or even a status in the community or an organization can profoundly impact their emotional and physical well-being. Older adults are also more likely to experience intangible losses, such as declining health, reduced independence, or changes in their identity due to retirement. Grief in this stage of life can manifest in many ways, including sadness, withdrawal, irritability, or physical symptoms like fatigue, sleep disturbances, or aches and pains. These feelings can be compounded by a sense of loneliness or isolation, making the grieving process even more challenging.
